Orthodontics

Welcome to The Dental Studio Jersey, the premier destination for orthodontic care in Jersey. Whether you’re looking to achieve a straighter smile or address misaligned teeth, our dedicated team is here to provide you with customized orthodontic solutions.

Having orthodontic treatment to straighten or move your teeth into a better position can make a massive difference to your smile, your confidence and to your health. Treatment can take place at any time, whether you are a child or an adult. This treatment can vary, but involves the use of an appliance (which is also known as a brace).

It is fairly common for people to have crooked teeth, or too many teeth so that their mouth is overcrowded. This can of course affect appearance, but it may also have a detrimental effect on your bite and the alignment of your jaws, which may be causing headaches. Crooked teeth can also affect your oral health as they can be difficult to clean.

Here at the practice we use a range of orthodontic appliances:

Removable appliance – an appliance made of delicate wires and springs that has a gentle actions. It can be removed for cleaning
Fixed appliance – as the name suggests this cannot be removed. Brackets and bands temporarily stuck to the teeth
Elastics – delicate elastic bands that are attached to a fixed brace
Headgear – this is something that is sometimes used in addition to a brace

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about Orthodontics? Learn about clear braces, invisalign, and more in this concise FAQ guide.

There are several types of braces used in orthodontic treatment, including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces, and clear aligners. Metal braces are the most common type and are made of stainless steel. Ceramic braces are tooth-colored and blend in with the teeth for a more aesthetic appearance. Lingual braces are attached to the back surface of the teeth, making them virtually invisible. Clear aligners, such as Invisalign, are removable and transparent trays that gradually move the teeth into the desired position.

The duration of orthodontic treatment can vary depending on the complexity of the case and the individual patient. On average, treatment with braces typically lasts between 18 to 24 months. However, some cases may require a shorter or longer duration. Your orthodontist will evaluate your specific needs and provide you with a more accurate estimate of the treatment timeline during the initial consultation.

No, orthodontic treatment is not limited to a specific age group. While it is common for children and teenagers to undergo orthodontic treatment, adults can also benefit from braces or other orthodontic appliances. Age is not a barrier to achieving a straighter and healthier smile. It’s never too late to consult with an orthodontist and explore the available options for improving your dental alignment.

Orthodontic treatment offers numerous benefits beyond just straightening teeth. It can help correct misaligned bites, improve jaw function, and enhance overall oral health. Straighter teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, orthodontic treatment can improve speech and chewing abilities, alleviate jaw pain, and enhance the aesthetic appearance of your smile, boosting your self-confidence.
